Dr. Mohammed Bello Ibrahim

Dr. Mohammed Bello Ibrahim was born on the 27th August, 1961 in Zaria, Kaduna State. An erudite academician who has travelled to over eleven (11) countries of the World in search of academic excellence, Dr M. B. Ibrahim has over 44 publications in Learned Journals, Conferences, Seminars and Workshops as well as three standards textbooks to his credit, namely: Introduction to Basic Principles of Biochemistry, Introduction to Principles of Practical Biochemistry and Basic Principles of Industrial Hygiene and Toxicology. Dr. Mohammed Bello Ibrahim took over a bedridden Kaduna Polytechnic as Rector on the 10th September, 2012. A humble, caring, and listening personality, Dr. Ibrahim’s selfless and sacrificial style of leadership has succeeded in elevating Kaduna Polytechnic to its rightful place as the leading Technical Institution in Nigeria. Under his leadership, a total of 510 staff which includes 64 Ph.D, 92 MSc were trained within and outside the country. He equally brought expert from the Nigerian Communication Commission (NCC) to train 340 Staff of the Institution in Advanced Digital Appreciation Programme. To ensure Academic Quality Assurance Control, his administration has produced guidelines and procedures that will lead to the training of efficient and effective manpower to the nation in line with effective implementation of Technical Vocational Education and Training System (TVET). These acts have earned him many awards and commendations. He is happily married and blessed with responsible children.

Duties of the Rector

According to the Guidelines for the Management of Federal Polytechnics Section 3.04, the Rector is the Chief Academic and Chief Administrative Officer of the Polytechnic. He is responsible to the Governing Council and expected to attend all Council meetings provide Council with reports on the progress of the Polytechnic and ensure that Council decision s are carried out faithfully.

Other functions include

  • Chairman of the Academic Board, the highest decision making body of the Institution on academic matters,
  • Chief Accounting Officer of the Polytechnic, which means he is responsible for authorizing all payments and also ensuring payments are made in accordance with government financial institutions,
  • Responsible for seeing that meeting of the Council and its Committees are properly serviced and that the provisions of the Federal Polytechnics are carried out in all deliberations of the Council
